About Selank
Selank is a synthetic 7-amino acid peptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from tuftsin — a naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) cleaved from the Fc portion of IgG by leucine aminopeptidase. The heptapeptide modification includes an appended Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal sequence that increases biological stability by protecting against peptidyl-prolyl endopeptidase degradation and extends the compound's half-life in central nervous system tissue preparations compared to native tuftsin.
