About Oxytocin Acetate
Oxytocin is a 9-amino acid cyclic peptide neurohormone synthesized in the paraventricular and supraoptic nuclei of the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary. The ring structure is formed by a disulfide bridge between cysteine residues at positions 1 and 6, and the C-terminal glycine is amidated — a post-translational modification essential for full receptor binding activity. Oxytocin is structurally closely related to vasopressin (AVP), differing only at positions 3 (Ile vs. Phe) and 8 (Leu vs. Arg), yet exhibits distinct receptor selectivity in pharmacological studies.
Research applications for oxytocin encompass its binding affinity and kinetics at oxytocin receptors (OTR) and vasopressin receptors (V1a, V1b, V2) in radioligand competition assays, downstream Gq-protein coupling and intracellular Ca²⁺ mobilization characterization, and oxytocin receptor pharmacology studies in heterologous expression systems. In neurological research models, the compound is used to investigate prosocial behavior neurochemistry, hypothalamic circuit function, and the molecular pharmacology of the oxytocin/vasopressin peptide family. For laboratory research use by qualified investigators.

Lyophilized Research Peptides
This product is supplied in lyophilized (freeze-dried) form — a process that extends shelf life and preserves peptide purity and structural integrity during storage. No fillers, excipients, or preservatives are used in the lyophilization process. The lyophilized powder should be reconstituted with an appropriate research-grade solvent in a controlled laboratory environment prior to use in in vitro or preclinical assay systems.
